NHL
hockey picks - NHL
WITHDRAWAL
At first it didn’t
seem like a big deal when they announced
the NHL lockout sometime ago, as most
of us figured it probably would be settled
by the October 13th regular season start
date or somewhere along that time frame.
At first I thought to myself that this
was all a result of “mass media
and hype”, but now as I sit here
and watch the MLB World Series come to
an end and knowing the NBA regular season
is just about a week away from kicking
off into full force, the NHL withdrawal
has officially come into effect for many.
Yes of course it’s
true, I like to wager on hockey and I
like to play it on occasion but the fact
of the matter is I love to watch it. I
was born and raised in Edmonton during
the Gretzky phenomenon and loved hockey
ever since.
Now I’m living in
Toronto and all you hear about up here
is hockey and the Maple Leafs. I love
it. Hockey in Toronto is a serious thing.
Die-hard hockey fans up here or to be
more specific die-hard Maple Leaf fans
are already trembling at the thought of
a lonely Saturday night with no “Hockey
Night in Canada” to watch, leaving
us hockey fans with no excuse to drink
endless amounts of beer and stuff our
faces with pizza and wings.
For me personally, I will
be satisfied with the NBA just for the
fact that I love basketball just as much
as I love hockey, but I still feel for
those of you who have been completely
affected by the NHL lockout. Hopefully
something will get accomplished before
the game becomes extinct in certain parts
of the United States, or has it already.
