THE TOTAL - NHL BETTING TRENDS - PART 1
|
Several years ago
my attention was drawn to a comment
made on "Hockey night in Canada" by
a former player which got me thinking.
The ex-player (Kelly Hrudey) that the
hardest role for any pro hockey player
was returning home from a long road
trip.
I looked at this from several angles,
first home game back after playing 3,
4, and 5 or more consecutive road games.
Did it favor the road team, the home
team, chalk or dog. After sifting through
four seasons worth of results (back-testing)
I noticed how many games ended with
five goals being scored. Not surprising
when one thinks that a total of five
goals was prior to this season the most
regular posted total in NHL games by
the Sportsbooks.
I decided to track the plays (paper
monitor) for the season 2001 - 02, using
the average posted total from twelve
reputable Sportsbooks and the best available
total. I made notes of number of days
rest between last road game and first
home game back, number of consecutive
previously played road games and by
the time the All-Star break came along
a pattern was starting to emerge. I
started to wager on these games and
my confidence increased with every winner.
Before I let you all in on this profitable
little gold mine of a system, here are
the returns since the start of season
2001 - 02.
2001/02.....OVER 21.....UNDER 29.......PUSH....9

2002/03....OVER 17.......UNDER 32........PUSH...8.......%65.3
