Russel Josephs CENTER ICE: Regarding 2005
nhl hockey betting's opening night NHL action,
some of my thoughts about each of the 15 games
that played!
Under the category "something
I thought I would never see in MY lifetime",
Edmonton beat Colorado
Forget about Naslund and Bertuzzi,
Brendan Morrison (2 assists) is the real leader
in Vancouver
Jeremy Roenick scored twice in
his debut for L.A but it was Dallas scoring
5 unanswered goals which took the spotlight
in the Stars 5-4 victory
Anaheim got goals from both Scott
& Rob Neidermyer in their opening 5-3 win at
Chicago, the Ducks off-season reunion for the
brothers was definitely warranted
Calgary did not even look like
playoff capable team on opening night, the Flames
didn't even wake up till they were down 3-0,
they got roasted 6-3 at the hands of Minnesota
Nashville saw an immediate return
on their huge investment this season, opening
nights 3-2 win at home featured Paul Kariya
scoring his first goal as a Predator
The leagues first ever official
regular season shootout gave us Ottawa winning
3-2 at Toronto
Carolina looked lost in a 5-2
loss at Tampa Bay, the Lightning looked very
good in all areas of their game, most impressive
was Vaclav Prospal who is making his 2nd go
round with the team
Crosby wasn't all he was said
to be but he and his Pens made things interesting
opening night even though they lost 5-1 at New
Jersey
Luongo better get that longterm
offer he's asking for in Florida or some team
like the Rangers or the Detroit will gladly
take him off the Panthers hands, opening night
- Luongo wins by shutout 2-0 hosting Atlanta
- enough said
Detroit never skipped a beat,
looked like the Wings never even lost a year
to the lockout as they dominated St. Louis in
every way imaginable, the Wings opened at home
with a 5-1 decision
Buffalo might have to be concerned
about their defence after allowing 4 goals opening
night but their offense certainly isn't a concern,
the Sabres scored 6 goals opening night, 1 goal
in the first - 2 goals in the 2nd - 3 goals
in the third
Boston lost a heartbreaking 2-1
decision on home-ice to open the season, the
Bruins gave up the winning goal with just 11
seconds remaining in the 3rd period, Thornton
had no points and just one shot on goal all
night long
Forsberg did look like his old
self with 2 assists opening night, while our
assists are nice - goals are much better, Jaromir
Jagr had 2 of them as the Rangers outscored
Philadelphia 3-0 in the final period and went
on to win 5-3 on bully-street
On their own ice Washington was
being outshot 20-9, even so, rookie winger Alexander
Ovechkin scored on 2 of his first 3 NHL shots
and eventually led his team to a 3-2 win at
home
- "Welcome back NHL, welcome
back".
Last night we opened up the NHL
regular season just one goal shy of sweeping
3-0, we settled for the profit that we did make
as our OVER the total on Wings/Blues cashed
in as well as Ottawa winning on the road as
our NHL Blowout!! Over the total on Sharks/Predators
came up one goal shy but overall we made the
money and we'll continue to get the job done!
